Ever since I was young growing up in Brazil, my
dream was to play sports. As a child I enjoyed
playing all types of sports. I was fascinated by
the abilities of the athletes on television, and
I wanted to be one of them. But, little did I
know what God’s plan for my life was. When I was
12 years old I moved to the United States. In
high school football and basketball were two of
my favorite sports; until I was introduced to
weight lifting.
In October of 1997 while attending college in
Tennessee , I was diagnosed with leukemia, it
took me by surprise. At the time I was not
leading a healthy lifestyle, sleeping late and
eating junk food were part of my everyday life.
My parents decided it would be best if I was
treated here in Florida where they lived, within
days I was under Chemo therapy at the Sylvester
Cancer Institute Jackson Memorial Hospital. I
lost 45 pounds within 25 days on my first
treatment, I was so weak that it took all my
strength to take a step, I even lost the ability
to climb stairs. But thankfully my body was able
to adapt better and in 8 months I had gained my
weight back.
Because of my experience with leukemia and all
that it did to me I decided to help people
before they became sick. I received my
certification at World Fitness Association as a
personal trainer. I have trained people for more
than two years and have helped people gain 25 to
30 pounds in muscle mass and have gotten ladies
toned in those impossible places. I do personal
training with a passion because living a healthy
lifestyle saved my life.
